It’s almost a year since we welcomed our last group of apprentices. It was the first time in 15 years that we’d opted to take on apprentices – you can read all about it in this EDP article.
So, one year on, how has it all gone?
We’re pleased to report that it’s been a huge success! We began with five apprentices, and they’re all still with us and about to embark on the second and final year of their course in Interior Systems.
They’ve all achieved a number of great milestones in the past year including:
- Passing their driving tests so they can all drive our vans
- Getting their CSCS cards which provide proof that individuals working on construction sites have the required training and qualifications for the type of work they carry out
- Completing first aid training
- Completing PASMA training, for working on scaffold towers, and IPAF, for working on scissor lifts and cherry pickers.
They’ve been working alongside the more experienced members of our team on ceilings, partitions and interior fit outs. This has given them a great understanding of what’s important when working on site.
So well done, everyone! We’ve had great feedback from the National Construction College at Bircham Newton who are impressed with the apprentices’ abilities.
We’re wishing all of the apprentices the best of luck with the second year of their course where they’re working towards their NVQ Level 2. This year, they’ll be getting stuck in to more specialised work on some of our projects. Here’s to another successful year!
